What we are doing here

Mary and I have been eating out in restaurants and pubs for the last 14 years. It's one of the things we enjoy doing most, and we are prepared to travel some distance and pay quite a lot to try different things. However, we are not limited to expensive or well-reviewed places - we are much more likely to dine in McDonald's or a local fish and chip cafe than at the Fat Duck, though we do try to visit Michelin-starred establishments, or those recommended by other food guides, when we can .

We live in Castleford, West Yorkshire and have been following a few local food blogs over the last couple of years, and have eaten many meals based on their recommendation. We thought we'd like to contribute our own experiences in the hope that others might enjoy what we have enjoyed.

I suppose the title is self-explanatory - it doesn't matter what you are eating, or where you are eating it, you stand every chance of enjoying it as much as possible if you eat it with a knife that does a good job of cutting the food, a fork that has even tines and a spoon that balances easily in the hand. However, neither of us are experts and we will not be reviewing the cutlery, though I suppose we might comment on it occasionally.

Neither are we great cooks ourselves, but we have built up a good knowledge of food and techniques over the years. I don't anticipate that we will be giving many cookery tips though.
