The Kaye Arms, Grange Moor

On the main road between Wakefield and Huddersfield, this has been a well known gastro pub for many years. However at our first visit about 5 years ago it was terrible. Cold, unfriendly, poor service and dull food. Then it changed hands, so we went again about two years ago. It was worse. Now taken over by the management team at the Butchers Arms, Hepworth, where we went a few weeks ago, and were impressed, we thought we'd try again.

There's been a great transformation; the pub was warm, the service very friendly and the food uniformly excellent. We had the fixed price lunch menu and enjoyed every course.

Starter - Butternut Squash and Prosciutto Salad

Starter- Yorkshire Pudding with Onion Gravy

Main-Salmon with Saffron Potatoes

Main - Lamb Stew with Herb Dumpling

Dessert - Apple and Sultana Strudel

Dessert - Choice of three Yorkshire Ice Creams

Two three course lunches,  a pint of Kronenbourg and a pot of tea - about £40. We really enjoyed it.
