We were in Lichfield to take my Mum out for lunch on her 85th birthday. She wanted to go to 1709 because it was the favourite restaurant of some friends, but she'd not been yet. In descending order below are the dishes we had between us:
Starters
Poached Salmon with Cucumber and Crème Fraiche dressing (Mary and Mum)
Pork and Black Pudding Meatballs in Tomato Stew (Me)
Mains
Thai Chicken with Mange Tout and Sweetcorn, with Red Pesto (Me)
Cannelloni with Roasted Vegetable (Mary) or Lamb and Aubergine (Mum).
It was all good, the place was very busy and service was very energetic, but possibly the best thing was the value for money. 6 dishes, all good quality, in a pleasant restaurant with three soft drinks for £23.
